Do you feel like there are too many distractions when you're trying to teach? In this session, you will learn why I decided to switch from the "traditional" classroom to using playlists and discuss how I got students on board. You'll leave this session with templates, ideas, and examples that you can use in your classroom.
The hope is to give teachers more information and understanding on the Return to Learn process that concussed students go through. Most students may look like normal functioning students when in reality they are struggling to complete normal academic tasks.
Attendees can expect to understand how balanced literacy can be implemented in a secondary classroom. I took Jen Kearney’s balanced lit summer class and will be speaking to how teachers can implement this in their classroom, as well as share what has been successful and what has not. This will be beneficial for attendees because balanced literacy/ reader writer workshop is a model of teaching that addresses all areas of ELAR that are addressed in the new TEKS for the upcoming year.
